A long time I look for any information about an ancient Bali's ritual named "puputan".
Undoubtedly this is related to ksatrya's traditions and at first sight it has some similarity to Rajput's shaka (sãkã).

All Bali's nobility has an origin from Java.
But it is important there is no historical records of a puputan (or similar rituals) at Java.

My be Bali had some another Hindu's influence or puputan originates from pre-Hindu tradition ?

Thank in advance.

Hindu scriptures contain Bali in two places..
One Bali monkey and elder brother of Sugreeva . This bali was killed by lord Rama .
Second Bali a great donor , the word Balidan is derived from him .
